New Paltz Park

New Paltz, NY | The park design is the result of a collaboration between Allen Ross Architecture, State University of New York faculty and students, and local designers and businesses.

The reconfiguration of a municipal parking lot in downtown New Paltz allows for the creation of a new public park without the loss of any parking spaces.  The park is simultaneously a place for pedestrians to relax and meet, and a screen between Main Street and the municipal lot.  Multiple pathways allow for pedestrian movement into and through the park; they echo the dynamic flow of New Paltz.  The team members include:

  • Allen Ross Architecture
  • Tim Rogers, Village of New Paltz Mayor
  • Joyce Hwang, University at Buffalo SUNY
  • Andrea Frank, University at New Paltz SUNY
  • Emily Puthoff, University at New Paltz SUNY
  • Olivia Arcara, University at Buffalo SUNY
  • Joshua Korenblat, University at New Paltz SUNY
  • Jeff Freedman, University at Albany SUNY
  • John Wightman, University at Buffalo SUNY
  • Andrew Willingham, Willingham Engineering
